M.E.R.C
Helping me in my knowledge

Activities we do at M.E.R.C:
  • Archery
  • Giant ladder
  • Sailing
  • Raft building
  • Multi sport challenge

This is my second time that I have been at M.E.R.C. And at M.E.R.C I learned to be confident and to take an opportunity and work as a team and to listen carefully to the instructions so that I  could access or achieve  my skills. At camp, I was also learning about survival the great outdoor that makes me exhilarating-making I feel very  happy in these experience - activity.

I wasn't confident because of the fact that the giant ladder was too high. After that, I learned to overcome fear.Giant ladder it's all about to participate to work to work together with my partner to reach the top of the giant ladder, and it's we need to work as communicate.

Archery is also a challenge because we were aiming for the bullseye and the balloon. And we had to wait at the back of the second rope because it's the safety rules of the game and you have to be patience until Rebekah our instructor said to step forward.

In sailing, I learnt how to steer the boat, turn and  handling the sheets. This activity is building up my knowledge gained from the dinghy games, but the most important thing in this activity is teamwork.

Raft building I learned how to build a raft by using ropes, two long kinds of wood and four round cylinders. And in raft building I soon learnt from my mistake  because the raft went float. When I build a raft I always thinking about and plan skills.

Multi sport challenge it's when two groups put together, and vs each others.

The most important thing at camp it’s communicate and teamwork. And at camp I have so much fun.

Speech - Reading is important

I believe that reading is important for everyone. Why? and what can you tell me why reading is important? Let me explain you why reading is important.

Reading is important to everyone because it helps us to build our own vocabulary and helps us improve our understanding to the words in the stories that we have read and listened to. It's also important that we understand what we were reading. Being good at reading helps us in our writing, and we gain knowledge about a lot of things through the books and articles read.  We will be able to follow instructions when we do our work at school, when we are on the street, at the beach, at the malls or wherever we go. For example, if you wish to visit a friend who lives far away and you need to drive  a car, how will you get there if you do not know how to read the road map and road signs?

Another reason why we need to read a book every day is  because it supports us when we look for more information about specific topics relating to what we do in the classroom which also help us to develop our language skills.

If we want to get a good job in the future and we want to succeed in life, we should work hard while we are in school especially with our reading comprehension  because it gives us the power of understanding.  Reading increases our knowledge in our ability to identify the things that we need to do in life. For example, you are at the supermarket to do grocery shopping but you do not know how to read the signs and labels of the items that you would like to buy. You would not know which direction to go and you’ll waste a lot of your time. It makes life difficult for you!

When we read a book, we also learn to take notice of the setting, characters, sequence of the story, the conflicts, exposition, climax, and resolution.
When we read an online article, newspaper, and blogs, they are just examples of the things that we can learn from.

So, read more and more,  as it can help you and me to improve and have a better understanding of everything in the world around us.

Thank you!
